I am a PhD student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, advised by Lang Tong. I received the bachelor degree in computer science from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2011. 

My research lies in optimization, data analytics, and statistical learning, with application to smart grid and power systems. The goals of my work are (1) to develop mathematical models describing real-world systems and (2) to design computationally efficient solution approaches. My PhD thesis focuses on problems of optimization under uncertainty in the electric grid with considerable renewable energy integration.


Probabilistic Forecasting of Real-Time Locational Marginal Price and Network Congestion

Electricity price forecast is a fundamental input to market participants’ decision-making mechanisms and an efficient tool for operators to manage network congestion and incent demand response. Based on a multiparametric formulation, a probabilistic price forecasting methodology is proposed from the operator viewpoint. Along with the online learning technique, the proposed forecasting technique presents informative, flexible, efficient and scalable features. 

Multi-Area Interchange Scheduling under Uncertainty

Balancing authorities operate power grids defined by certain geographical boundaries. While power is routinely transferred across these boundaries, "seams" may arise between neighboring areas due to inefficient interchange schedule. An optimal interchange scheduling technique is proposed for the multi-area multi-interface system in the presence of system and operation uncertainty.
