The Army has embarked on a Transformation Strategy to create an Army
medium to light weight froces capable fo fighting the full spectrum of
military conflicts, from peace keeping to full scall operations. The key
to this transformation is the development of the Future Combat System (FCS).
The FCS depends on advances in science and technology in sensors networks,
robotics, survivability, lethality, and power sources. This presentation
will discuss projercts in the technology areas relating to the Army research
Laboratory program.
Biography:
Dr Gowens is Chief, computer and Communication Sciences Division at
the Army Research Laboratory. He leads a division conducting research
and development in all aspects of C4 for the objective force. He
has been with Department of the Army for 13 years. Prior to joining
the Federal government, Dr. Gowens spent 20 years in the private sector
and academia. He has a BS degree in mathematics from the US Naval
Academy and both an MBA and Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
